gift for a lovely friend.

my wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of months, and i've finally gotten a chance to slow down to enjoy our pictures from that lovely day.  since i DIY-ED a lot of elements for our wedding i lost my scrapping/crafting mojo, but i think it's coming back.  our wedding was held at our close family friends Ray and Michelle Dixon.  their backyard was the ideal setting for our night wedding.  i wanted to give Michelle some of our wedding pictures, but not sure how to arrange them i held off for a few months, but i was walking through Micheal's a few weeks ago and saw this awesome album stand.  this is what i came up with...

the stand had 12 pages and these are just a few.  i'm very, very pleased with the outcome of her gift, and i'm thinking about making one for myself or even as a Christmas gift for my Maid of Honor, Jeane.  in the past i've poured myself into a few different gifts for either birthdays or Christmas, but sadly they weren't welcomed with loving arm like i'd hope.  on the other hand, Michelle LOVED this gift!  and i was very happy to see her face light up with every page she turned.

wedding wednesday.

i know it's strange to post details of the wedding since it's already behind us, but i'm digging on it.  here's another project i worked on for our wedding.  we wanted every table to have a menu card, so i found this at my local Ikea store.  they were only $.99 and held a picture on both sides, so they were perfect for our tables.  i bought eight frames and got to work...

i typed up our menu in word, printed it out, and then printed out a fantastic monogram i got for free from somewhere that i can't remember. sorry.  i knew once i printed out the monogram it would be the exact thing we needed to put on the back of our menu cards. i bound them with basic adhesive and slipped them into the Ikea frames. 

and here's what they looked like once everything was put together.  we were very happy with the end result and for the price it couldn't be beat.

wedding wednesdays.

now that the wedding is behind us, i have more time to reflect on all of the goodness of that day + the hard work that went into making our wedding day special, not only for us, but for our family + friends too.  here's some pictures of our wedding tables and the favor we gave out.

i wanted to do as much DIY wedding stuff as i could.  i know i've got a certain amount of craftiness, but putting together a wedding without a planner is way above my pay-grade, i thought until now.  i looked all over the internet for ideas, posts, and inspiration, and then started to fine tune our vision for our wedding.  we went with a simple black and white with a splash of light pink color scheme. 

i bought the fabric for our tables from this tiny store in the Fashion District in Downtown LA for about $2.50 a yard.  we got about 30 yards for 8 guest tables & one dessert table, but we have SO MUCH fabric leftover that i might make a dress out of rest of it..lol.  my lovely friend, Leeda, measured our guest tables that sat 8-10 people, cut a 55" square, & finished the hem on all of the tablecloths we used for our guests tables & the dessert table was 48", so she cut that tablecloth at 60" square that way it would hang over the edges nicely (i'll post those pictures next week...along with centerpieces). 

we got our candy apple wedding favors from a local wholesaler in El Monte, CA.  which were a HIT with all of our guests &  i'm sure their children later that night too.  those apples were $17 for a 30 pack.  i took regular black and pink ribbon from my local craft store, bought a tag PDF from this place here and printed them out on my HP printer with plain, old black ink.

we are newlywed's now.  i couldn't be happy with how the whole wedding turned out. everyone was in a great mood.  the backyard was the perfect setting for our wedding. our wedding party looked amazing.  i am a very happy bride...i must say, so i will be sharing (since i didn't have time before) some of the wedding projects i put together & some sneak peaks of our pictures over the next few wednesdays.  i'm hoping now that the wedding is behind us, i can get back in-touch with my crafty side.

i'm not the type of girl that likes too many traditional things.  i understand somethings are a must like...Christmas music in the malls during December or the bride wearing white on her wedding day.  with that said, i didn't want a "classic" guest book for our upcoming wedding, so when i came across this shop (this girl was a dream to work with too) on Etsy i knew this was for us.  here's our Wedding Tree Guest book...

am a serious fan.  took our tree file to be printed at Kinko's Fedex and walked away only paying $2.65 for an 11X16 color print.  can't wait to see all the names on it, and then we'll be framing this beauty to hang on our bedroom wall. 

wedding wednesdays...

last Sunday my mother had a bridal luncheon for me, but i'll post about that later.  so for now, i wanted to share our "take away" that we made for our guest.  i LOVE cupcakes so much, that not only am i having them at our wedding, but we also had them at my luncheon.  we bought these boxes from Oriental Trading Company, but we put a twist on them...

we took some ribbon, a monogram sticker, & some pretty card stock.  after a few try's, i came up with this...

everyone loved leaving with a sweet treat after a tasty brunch. i'm planning on spending the day scraping with my friend, so i should have a few layouts to post in the next few days, otherwise come back next Wednesday for another wedding update.  17 days to go and counting....

wedding wednesdays...

c + me are HUGE baseball fans, so i came up with a genius idea of naming our wedding guest tables after the ballparks we've been to over the years.  anyone who truly knows us, knows these table names are so us. here's just a few of the ballparks we'll be di using for our wedding...

we'll be mounting these on top of flower centerpieces with these handmade floral wire picks, which i absolutely love!  once i mount the two copies of these pictures together with adhesive, i'll be rounding the corners + placing them in the wire picks.  there will be 10 tables in total, so there will be 10 different pictures of us.  i hope it all comes together like i envision it in my head.

wedding wednesdays...

so, here we are again, another wedding wednesday!  today's post will show off our beautiful wedding venue.  we are very excited and honored that our former boss and his beautiful wife offered their home to us for our wedding...

this is the view from the top gazebo where we will be exchanging our voes while our guest will be sitting below on the grass area.  might not look like much now, but once we do our magic this backyard will look like a dreamy night right out of a fairytale.  i hope.

long time, no see!  it's been over 3 months since i've shared anything with you guys.  bad Sophie, i know!  well, since i've gotten some wedding planning under my belt, i thought i'd update you all on our progress...

i've decided that i'm DIY-ing our centerpieces, bridal banquets, and the groomsmen flowers.  i know it's a lot of work you say, but i'm going with a simple white color pallet for everything flower-wise.  i'm looking forward to working on all of them, and taking pride as i watch all of our guests enjoy the beautiful (but cheap) wedding flowers.

here we are again, another Wedding Wednesday is upon us, and i've got a LOVELY layout for you...

so, my stunning bridesmaids + me met for a short, but sweet lunch at Cheesecake Factory in Brea.  there wasn't really anything to review, or plan at this point, but i thought this would be a great way for all the girls to meet each other + just hang out together.  as you can tell, one girl wasn't able to join us that day, because she had prior plans that day that couldn't be changed.  she was missed, for sure.  we had lots of good eats, lots of yummy desserts, lots of laughs, + it was an amazing to finally feel like our wedding is REAL, and not just an idea in my head.

i used the CTMH Magic Book (which i'm addicted to!) to figure out what layout i wanted to go with, the paper is Teresa Collins Posh, and some matching ribbon from that line too.  i'm planning on using black/pink/white paper combo only for all my wedding layouts this year.

wedding wednesdays...

hello, everyone!  i've been a very bad blogger...i've been lazy + i think i've lost my "mojo".  i haven't been feeling very creative these days, but i'm hoping to get a lot done this coming Saturday at Celebrate! with my girlfriends.  anywho,  last Friday i went over to the lovely Pat Serrano's house for a little girl time.  as we all know, she is amazingly talented, so we started brainstorming ideas for my Save-The-Date cards.  here's what she came up with under my supervision, lol...

isn't this card just gorgeous?!  i can't believe with a few scraps of paper, a small amount of ribbon, and a CTMH stamp she came up with this!  since i'm a card maker i decided against making our invites, but i thought making a set of 50-60 Save-The-Dates wouldn't be too much, but it would still give our wedding a homemade feeling.  once i showed this sample to C he fell in love with it, just like i did.  so, this is our official Save-The-Date cards for our upcoming wedding. exciting!  here's a close up...

so, i've been thinking a lot about flowers for our big day!  i LOVE this idea for me...

i grabbed this image off here, and trust me, they have truly beautiful choices, but i'm not LOVING anything yet.  i was also thinking about doing something totally different for the bridesmaides/matrons, so something like this but BIGGER.  what do we think?  i would love to hear anyone's ideas/comments on this subject.

well.... C is kind of behind on the wedding planning, but i thought it would be fun to give you a sneak peak last week of some of our wedding party members.  so, i'm sure you recognize these gals from my past layouts.  we spend a lot of holidays with these girls, and they've been all over my scrapbooks for the past two+  years.  the other two girls from our wedding party are part of C's family, and i've become good friends with both of them. 

here's cousin Patty...

i asked C's cousin Patty to be in our wedding.  i've known of her for years, but facebook brought us together a few years back.  she's a darling gal.  funny.  interesting.  understanding.  easy to get along with. loves to plan just like me.  we've got many things in common, and she's been a good ear when i need to vent or bounce wedding ideas off of.  her husband, Curt, will be in our wedding too.

next up, Tina...

 

Tina is C's only sister.  i've known of her for over twenty years, but we grew close once i moved in with C.  she's a riot!  she's easy going.  she has an amazing heart.  she's fun and funny.  she will make you cry from laughing too hard.  she's trustworthy.   she loves to try new adventures with me.  she's an all-a-round great gal, and she's going to make an awesome sister-in-law.

wedding wednesdays...

i've been wanting to share some wedding details with you guys, but C's not a planner like me.  so, since we don't have anything new on the wedding front, i thought i would give you a little insight into our wedding party...

she's slated to be my maid-of-honor, but i'm kind of unsure about the wedding etiquette of a formally married party members.  does anyone know?  anywho, she's been my friend for years.  Jeane is the Miranda to my Charlotte (we are obsessed with SATC).  we text all day.  share all day.  have fun every time we're together.  she knows me secrets, and still loves me for them.  she doesn't judge (for the most part).  she's my call-when-i'm-on-the-side-of-the-road-and-she'll-be-there-kind-of-friend.  she has such a loving heart, and a calm about her that i wish i could have too.  she's smart, and loves a good cupcake just like me!  she's been a little difficult when it comes to planning the wedding, but i guess i can't have it all. lol!

i meet Pat when i was working at Board Ford many moons ago.  she was our Business Office Manager, and we hit it off the first time we came across each other.  i knew she was going to be a life long friend when we went for a pedi during our first lunch date.  we have many things in common.  she's wonderful.  amazing.  loving.  trustworthy.  beautiful.  super crafty.  our road together hasn't always been easy, but we are stronger for the bumps we've went over together.  i love her like a sister, and could never think of getting married without her standing by my side. 

next Wednesday meet our other two great gals from our wedding party.

carrie + mr. big get it right...

happy to reports that we are getting married next year.  i've known my boy for 25+ yrs but we've been dating off-and-on for what feels like a lifetime.  he POPPED the question with this beautiful ring....

i guess now i need to have my nails done! lol! i got an idea from elise  . she has tons of great ideas for weddings + in general. i fell in LOVE with the packets she used for her wedding. so, i scrap-lifted these from her. LOL!  with that said,  i made these little "love pockets" for my 3 bridesmaids + 1 maid of honor.

i changed my packet up a little.  i added a stamped corner, i had four cards inside with info ranging from what to wear, my promise to them, little info about each of the girls as a way for them to get to know each other better over this coming year.  this pretty much followed Elise's packets.  but i made a postcard out of card stock + CTMH stamp set asking each girl if they would be in our wedding.  i asked them to send it back to me with a "yay" or "nah", this way i'll be able to place these in our wedding scrapbook...

i'm very please with my take on her packets.  plus, my girls LOVED them.  i'll keep ya posted on the planning over the next year.  Happy Sunday!
