i'm playing along again with this week's Christmas Card Challenge.  this week's focus was stars, but since i don't have any paper/embellishments with stars i decided to make this instead...

i'm very excited to find new ways every week to come up with a new card and join the fun here. i'm using up all my old 6X6 paper pack from last Christmas, so i've convinced myself that i'm due for another round of new paper this coming week... LOL!  i'm hoping to be back later this coming week with a few new posts on our past weekend, up coming getaway, a project life update or two (fingers crossed!), and high five for Friday post.

it's time for another Christmas Card Challenge.

if you would like (or love) to play along like me, please go here . the ladies over at CCC came up with a fantastic sketch and i was happy to follow right along.  here's what i came up with...

i was so excited about having a sketch to follow, so i figured i should cut double and make an extra card while i was at it. here's the bonus card...

the second card isn't too different from the first, but i'm glad i made two cards instead of one.  note to future sophie, make TWO card for each week's Christmas Card Challenge... it'll be easier for you to get to the number of cards you need this year.  not sure which one i love more, but both cards will be finding a wonderful homes to welcome them into this coming December.  i'm moving right along with all my holiday cards, and i'm already looking forward to playing along with next year's Christmas Card Challenge.

i just adore these little snowmen!  as soon as i saw them last year i knew i wanted to make a Christmas cards, but then life happened and i totally burnt out on making cards for anyone last year.  fast forward to this summer, and my lovely friend Pat joined a design team.  they are focusing on Christmas cards, so she convinced me to play along, and if you'd like to please join them here.  i truly love and enjoy the weekly challenges, but i must admit this week's was a little tough for me.  the call this week was to NOT use a stamp... i was stumped, but decided it roll with the holiday theme and just make a stamped cute card.  the point of the challenge is to get your Christmas cards done, right?  or at least that's what i told myself last night.  here's my card for this week...

hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  C + i went to a wedding this weekend down in Carlsbad, Ca. my dear friend, Michelle, got married to a wonderful man named, Mark.  their wedding was beautiful, very warm and inviting colors all around, and a big splash of some Hawaiian Islands love. here's the card i made for her...

sorry the picture isn't so good, but i've been trying to take more pictures with my Iphone and less with my camera only for the shear fact that i'm tried of lugging both around to special events like this.  carrying less is more in my book these days.  and here's me with the bride (we've been friends of over 15+ years)...

i just love the light in her eyes in this photo C took of us.  i couldn't be happier for M + M or for the love they are about to embark on.  hooray for the married ladies club!

stripes and dots.

once again, i'm playing along (and having tons of fun!) in this week's Christmas Card Challenge. if you'd like to play along, please go here.  this week's challenge is to use paper with stripes and dots, and here's what i came up with...

the paper and brads are from last year's EP holiday line, the twine is Martha Steward, i can't remember where the angel stamp (one of my favorites) is from, but sentiment is from a stamp set by CTMH. i'm super happy with this card... and thinking i need to make a couple of more just for good measure.  my plan this year is to get ahead of the Christmas rush and write inside of every card, address and stuff the done card into envelopes with stamps affixed to the front, so when December 1st rolls around all i have to do is drop them in the morning post. wish me luck on this lofty goal... LOL.

snowman.

i've decided, with a little help from my friend, Pat, to start my Christmas cards early this year.  i'm playing along in a weekly Christmas card challenge, and if you're up to it, you can play along here.  this is only my 2nd week playing along, but i must say i'm having a BLAST and really enjoying focusing on one holiday theme, but different sketches and/or elements each week.  here's what i came up with for this week's wood grain challenge...

 
i had to go hunting for wood grain paper, and was able to find only one sheet at my local scrap store.  i'm not sure where the stamp of the snowman is from, but the sentiment and ribbon is from CTMH, the brads are from Michael's, and i colored in everything with my Copic markers.  i'm very happy with how this card came out, but i'm a little iffy on my coloring of the girls jacket.  it isn't exactly how i thought it would turn out, but that's okay. our friends + family getting the card will care more about the gesture then the details of the card. do you send out holiday cards? and if so, are they handmade or store bought?

christmas in june.

hello everyone!  i know it's been a loooonnnggg time since i've been on here, but things have calmed down around here, and i'm hoping to get back into the swing of blogging over the summer.  my lovely friend Pat is part of this design team and over the last few months she's been asking me to play along with the Christmas Card Challenges every week.  well, this week i finally caved and here's what i came up with for this week's challenge...

you can follow along here if you'd like to join.  i used a sentiment from CTMH, EPP 6X6 paper pack from last year, and some random brads and MS bakers twine from Michaels'.

i'm hoping to keep craftiness going over the next few months considering now that C and i are married our Christmas card list has grown.  also, i'll be sharing a few different posts over the next few months on different topics such as project life by Becky Higgins, a Ali Edwards Summer Manifest challenge, and a few other fun things like photo walk from Elisa Blaha blog.  hoping with all this summer excitement in the air it'll force me to get back into blogging at least a few times a week.

witches brew.

this is by far my favorite holiday, i must say.  not sure why, but i'm guessing it's because this holiday marks the start to the funnest time of the year.  i'm looking forward to having a great holiday season with my new husband and his/my (new) family.  here's a card i sent out to a few friends this year...

in LOVE with the paper rosette!  i can't get enough of them.  i want to put them on everything i make...lol!  back to business, i used The Apothecary Emporium line from EPP Co.  as soon as i saw it i knew this was thee paper for this year's cards.  the stamp is from CTMH (thanks Pat for these) and the ribbon is just what i had laying around in my ribbon box.  the brads i've had for many moons, but never used them, so they were perfect on this card. 

my bestie and i are taking her boys trick-or-treating tonight...i'm SO looking forwarding to that.  wishing everyone a great night filled with LOTS of yummy treats.  see ya later this week with some new layouts + cards. 

super bowl of fun.

totally forgot about this layout and how much i heart this paper pack from CTMH.  back in February i took these pictures + finished the layout a couple of months after that.  i kept this layout pretty simple and clean letting the beauty of the paper and ribbon do all the talking. 

i really love these pictures, because everyone looks happy to be together.  i must say that we have some truly fun times with our cousins, and this layout shows a part of those good memories.  back tomorrow with a wedding wednesday post + i'm hoping to have a sneak peak at this year's December Daily "book" i worked on this past Monday.  it's going to for sure be a NEW twist on the same classic book concept....can't wait to show you!

so, i've been trying to get caught up on my scrapping over the last few weeks and i'm almost there.  but, honestly it's going to take an act of congress to get me up-to-date with my 2011 album, since every weekend brings some new adventure for C & me.  here's one layout i've been dying to do since August.

i have a wonderfully close friend that sells CTMH goodies, and when i saw this paper pack in the new Fall look-book i feel hard in love!  i knew the Roxie (Paper Pack Level 2) would be perfect for these pictures. i tried a new twist on this layout with some lovely little paper rosettes and tying some tan color yarn to the picture with a brad and then pulling that yarn down to each girls name tag.  looking back, i think i should have placed their name along with the other wedding info, but it'll do for now.  here's a close up of page one...

side two of this two page layout was pretty basic, but i added a rosette to continue with that theme and this postcard i lifted from the restaurant where we had my bridal luncheon...lol!  anyway, i'm off to my good friends house to scrap the day away, so let's hope i've got something new to post tomorrow...if not, i'm hoping to post at least one or two more wedding Wednesday entries. enjoy your day + see ya back soon!

we're on a birthday roll.

here's another birthday layout for our friend, Meg.  she turned 40 this year back in April.  i know, it's taken me this long to finish up her layout too, but i must say i'm getting caught up pretty quick.

it was an all ladies night out with the exception of my future-husband-at-the-time.  we went to dinner first and then over to a local comedy club.  loved the colors of this paper, but i can't remember the name of it.  i kept this layout simple, but add some floss + brads to point out the birthday girl.

welcome back the single life.

my partner-in-crime/best friend went through a divorce.  and since there were children involved- it made everything long/difficult/awful/painful, so once everything was said and done, we went out to celebrate.  i wanted this layout to be filled with color + life.  i know a divorce isn't something that should be celebrated, but in our house we celebrate everything and this was no exception.

happy 41st.

my husband turned 41 years young earlier this year and it's taken me months to finish his layout.  i know, i'm slacking off on my scrapbooking, but i'm trying to make a real effort to get caught up.  my plan is to tackle two layouts every week until i'm current.  i might fail, but then again it's all about the challenge of trying for me, not failing.  with that said, let's get back to this layout.

we went to see our cousin's play earlier that day and then we went to Pomona Mining Company, which was a first for both of us.  the food was excellent, but the birthday boy wasn't too impressed.  i used Graphic 45 paper, a few CTMH stamps to break-up my journal pattern, and the ribbon + flower are from Micheal's.

i had my lovely friend Pat Serrano order this kit for me since i LOVED her's so much.  CTMH sells these full scrap kits with everything you need to make a 2- 2 page layout.  here's what i came up with for the first 2 page layout...
